Angelina Jolie, 50, Reveals Diet & Fitness Routine, Credits Lifestyle Choices Alongside Preventative Healthcare
LOS ANGELES – Actress Angelina Jolie is celebrating her 50th birthday by sharing insights into the disciplined lifestyle she maintains to balance a demanding career and humanitarian work. The star, known for roles in films like lara Croft and maleficent, attributes her vitality to a combination of mindful nutrition, consistent exercise, and proactive health decisions.
Jolie has shifted her diet, replacing coffee and dairy with vegetable drinks and natural juices, while prioritizing consistent hydration and regular schedules. Her physical regimen, guided by coach Magnus Lygback, involves training three times a week with a mix of yoga, kickboxing, and circuit training – a method combining strength, resistance, and flexibility designed for efficient workouts.
The actress has also abstained from both tobacco and alcohol. She emphasizes that prioritizing self-care provides the energy needed to sustain her artistic career and her role as a United Nations Institution (UN) Goodwill Ambassador.
In 2013, Jolie publicly revealed she underwent a preventative double mastectomy after discovering she carried mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, considerably increasing her risk of breast and ovarian cancer. She later opted to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes, citing a family history of the disease.
“It was my choice, but it is important to have it to choose it. Not everyone has to do it as I chose it. I do not regret it,” Jolie stated during a presentation of the film Couture at the San Sebastian Festival.
Her openness about these preventative measures sparked a global increase in consultations and genetic testing, a trend dubbed the “Jolie effect” by medical professionals. Jolie has consistently advocated for informed decision-making regarding health and connected her role in Couture to a personal experience with hereditary cancer.
