North Korea declares nuclear Status “Irreversible,” Condemns U.S. Actions
Pyongyang – North korea has formally rejected international efforts to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula, declaring its status as a nuclear weapons state “irreversible” and condemning recent actions by the United States as evidence of a “fixed antagonistic intention.” The statement, released by the North korean Central News Agency, comes as the nation continues to advance its nuclear and missile programs, dismissing offers of dialog from the U.S. and South Korea.
This defiant stance escalates tensions in a region already grappling with heightened security concerns. the declaration solidifies North KoreaS position as a nuclear power, complicating future negotiations and raising the stakes for international efforts to prevent further proliferation. The move impacts not only the Korean Peninsula and its allies, but also global security, potentially triggering a new arms race and undermining the international framework for nuclear non-proliferation.
According to the North Korean statement, the country views its nuclear capabilities as a legitimate response to perceived threats from the United states. Pyongyang accused Washington of undermining the international system for nuclear non-proliferation through its own nuclear weapons growth and criticized the U.S. for labeling North Korea‘s nuclear possession as “illegal.”
“We strongly reject the provocative work of the United States of revealing its fixed hostile intention against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and we express our serious concern about the negative consequences of this,” the statement read. It further emphasized that North korea’s nuclear status is enshrined in its supreme law and will not be altered.
The announcement follows a recent visit by leader Kim Jong Un to a research institute where a new high-power engine was unveiled, intended for use in a next-generation intercontinental ballistic missile, the Huasung-20. This development underscores North Korea’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its military capabilities despite international sanctions and condemnation.
the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has repeatedly expressed concerns over North Korea’s nuclear program, and the South Korean Yonhap News Agency reported on the condemnation. As of now, North Korea shows no indication of halting its weapons development or returning to the negotiating table.
