Trump Says He Believes Situation in Ukraine Will Be ‘Resolved’ Amid Recent Attacks
WASHINGTON D.C. – Following a massive Russian shelling of Ukraine on September 7, U.S. President Donald Trump stated he believes the situation in Ukraine will be “resolved,” though expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing conflict. CNN reported on the President’s comments.
“I am not excited about what is happening there. I believe that we are resolving it. But I am not satisfied with them. I am not satisfied with anything that is connected with this war,” Trump told reporters.
the President also indicated he plans to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin ”over the next few days” and anticipates discussing the war with European leaders visiting the White House on Monday or Tuesday. “I think that we will settle this issue,” Trump said.
The comments come after widespread international condemnation of the recent Russian strikes. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky called Putin a “coward that attacks women and children,” while European Council President Antonio Costa urged strengthening Ukraine’s defence and increasing sanctions on Russia.
French President Emmanuel Macron pledged to do “everything possible to ensure fair and durable peace,” and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attacks as evidence Putin believes he can act “with impunity.”
