Kulwut Wititsan​ falls Short in World Championship ‌Final, Secures Historic Silver for Thailand

Paris, ‍France – August 31, 2025 – Thailand’s Kulwut Wititsan, ranked ⁢third in the⁤ world, secured a⁤ silver medal at‌ the 2025 Badminton World‌ Championships in Paris ⁣today, falling to world number ⁣one Shi Yuqi of China in a hard-fought three-game‍ match. Despite a valiant effort, Wititsan was defeated 18-21 in the deciding game.

The⁢ match began‌ with a stunning display from Wititsan, who surged to an 11-18 lead in the first‍ game before ultimately claiming it 21-19. ​However, Shi ⁣Yuqi responded decisively in ‌the second game, dominating with a score of 21-10, forcing a third adn⁣ final game.

The final game proved to be a closely contested ‌battle, with both players demonstrating exceptional skill and determination. Ultimately, shi‌ Yuqi prevailed, securing the championship title with a⁣ 21-18 victory.

Despite the loss,Wititsan’s performance marks a historic achievement for Thai badminton.‍ He⁣ becomes the first Thai player to reach ⁢the World Championship final three consecutive times,⁢ having previously won a gold medal and secured another silver. This accomplishment has earned Wititsan ⁢a reward of 1 million baht ⁣from the National Sports Development Fund.

This tournament also saw challenges for ⁣other Thai athletes, with the ‍Thai women’s team being⁢ eliminated from the competition⁢ after losses to Japan‌ (0-3) ⁣and the⁣ Netherlands (2-3).
