Alberto El Patron: WWE & AAA Status After Mexico Departure

Alberto El Patron Lands Matches on Autonomous Circuit Following AAA Exit

Mexico City, Mexico – July 15, 2025 – Alberto El Patron, formerly known as Alberto Del Rio in WWE, is continuing his professional wrestling career after being released from AAA (Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide) on June 25th, 2025. The departure followed a loss at an AAA show where the stipulation dictated his exit from the promotion.

As of today, July 15th, neither AAA nor WWE have issued official statements regarding the circumstances surrounding El Patron’s release. The terms of his departure from AAA remain undisclosed, fueling speculation among fans.

Despite the uncertainty,El Patron has quickly transitioned to the independent wrestling scene in mexico. He has already participated in matches for Panther Promotions, based in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and La Aull, a promotion operating in Nuevo León. He is also scheduled to appear at the WWC 52nd Anniversary Show in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, on August 9th, 2025 – a show significant for its connection to the Carlito family, as WWC (World Wrestling Council) is owned by Carlos Colón Sr.and managed by his son, Carlito.

In a recent interview with mas Lucha on July 8th, 2025, El Patron expressed uncertainty about his future, stating that only time will reveal his next career move.He acknowledged the possibility of joining a full-time wrestling company but remained non-committal. Sources close to El Patron indicate he is exploring opportunities in both Mexico and the United States.

El Patron’s career has spanned major promotions including WWE, where he held the WWE Championship, and AAA, where he was a prominent figure in the lucha libre scene. His continued activity suggests a commitment to remaining an active competitor despite the recent changes.
