The White House confirmed Wednesday that President Trump is open to such discussions, with spokesperson karoline Leavitt stating, “The Russians have expressed the desire to meet with President Trump, and the president is open to meet with President putin and President Zelensky.President Trump wants this brutal war to end.”

According to a report in the New York Times, Trump revealed his plans during a telephone conversation with European leaders. The proposed trilateral meeting would involve only the three leaders, excluding any European counterparts, despite ongoing European efforts to mediate peace negotiations.

While the White House has suggested a potential meeting between Trump and Putin could occur as early as next week, specific details regarding the date and location remain undisclosed. Fox News reports the meeting could be held at the White House or in a neutral country.

trump described a recent meeting in Moscow with Steve Witkoff as “highly productive,” and subsequently informed European allies of the progress. He stated via his Truth Social platform, “Great progress have been made! Then I informed some of our european allies.Everyone agrees that this war has to come to an end and we will work in this direction in the coming days and weeks.”

This growth follows a recent ultimatum issued by Trump, demanding Russia cease its military offensive in Ukraine within “10 or 12 days” under the threat of increased sanctions.

President zelenskyy confirmed discussing the outcome of the Witkoff-Putin meeting with Trump and other European leaders. In a post on X, Zelenskyy emphasized a unified stance among partners: “Our common position as partners is absolutely clear: war must end. And this must be done honestly. European leaders have been present in the call and I am grateful to each of them for the support. We discussed what was said in Moscow.” He further affirmed Ukraine’s commitment to defending its independence, stating, “Ukraine, of course, will defend its independence. We all need lasting and reliable peace. Russia must end the war that began. Thank you all for supporting ukraine.”
