Jakarta – Politician Farah has emphasized that national interests must take precedence over personal requests, particularly in the case of Satria Arta, a former Marine convicted of desertion. Farah stated that the rule of law should be the primary foundation for any decision-making process.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Farah referenced the Jakarta-08 Military Court‘s decision to dismiss and sentence Arta to one year in prison. The court found Arta guilty of deserting his post on June 13, 2022, with the verdict having achieved permanent legal force on April 17, 2023.
Farah asserted that Indonesian citizenship law does not permit the defense of “ignorance,” especially for individuals who have sworn to uphold the nation’s sovereignty. She highlighted that this situation pertains to the enforcement of regulations and the nation’s dignity.
The PAN faction politician further argued that a former soldier, having undergone military education, should possess a thorough understanding of the oath of loyalty to the Republic of Indonesia. Farah described the plea of “not knowing” as arduous to accept from someone who has pledged allegiance to the Republic above all else, noting that the soldier’s oath and the Sapta Marga are the highest commitments of a state servant.
