Jasper Welcomes alabama’s First Recovery Café, Offering Hope and Support for Substance Use Recovery

JASPER, Ala. – A beacon of hope has officially opened its doors in Jasper, Alabama, with the launch of Recovery Café Walker County. this marks a significant milestone as it becomes the state’s inaugural Recovery Café, a community-based resource recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Governance (SAMHSA).

The new center, located at 589 Highway 78 in Jasper, is a membership-based initiative offering a free, supportive environment for individuals navigating the complexities of substance use disorder and mental health challenges. The philosophy behind Recovery Cafés, as highlighted by the Recovery Café Network, is rooted in the belief that “every human being is precious and worthy of love regardless of their earlier trauma, mental and emotional anguish, or addictive behaviors.”

Recovery Café Walker County joins a growing network of over 80 similar locations across the United States, each founded by members of their respective communities. Paige Britton, the driving force behind The Recovery Den, a dedicated recovery-focused community center, has spearheaded the establishment of Recovery Café walker County.Britton, who also serves as the executive director of The Recovery Den, expressed her enthusiasm for the new venture.

“We are honored to bring this powerful new program to Walker County,” Britton stated. “This Café is a space where every person is valued, healing is possible, and recovery is celebrated.”

The need for such a resource in the Jasper and Walker County area is especially acute, given the significant impact of the opioid crisis. Curt Lindsley, Executive Director for the Alabama Alliance for Recovery Residences (AARR), emphasized the importance of this new community asset.

“The Recovery Café Walker County plays a vital role in helping individuals struggling with life circumstances,” Lindsley commented. “Located right in the heart of jasper, it will serve as a hub for community and support, connecting members with a variety of vital community resources.”

Recovery café Walker County aims to provide extensive support throughout an individual’s recovery journey. “People that are sick in recovery, or in recovery, we can definitely help them navigate the whole recovery-oriented system of care, the process,” Britton explained. “We want to be there to support before,during,and after,no matter where they’re at in their recovery,we want to be there.”

The Recovery Den and Recovery café Walker County are both situated at 589 highway 78 in Jasper, offering a centralized location for individuals seeking support and community.
