Sting and Iggy Pop Headline Massive Colors of Ostrava Festival
Ostrava, Czech Republic – The highly anticipated colors of ostrava festival kicks off Wednesday, promising a vibrant four-day celebration of music and ideas.this year’s edition boasts an impressive lineup of 120 bands, featuring global superstars Sting and Iggy Pop, alongside popular acts like Snow Patrol and shaggy. The festival also includes the influential Meltingpot discussion forum, with President Petr Pavel among its distinguished guests.
Legendary British musician Sting, formerly of The Police, is set to be a major draw. The 71-year-old artist,known for his genre-bending experimentation,will perform from his latest “Live 3.0” show. He will take the stage with his trio,featuring guitarist Dominik Miller and drummer Chris Maas.
Joining Sting as a headliner is the iconic American punk rock pioneer Iggy Pop. Renowned for hits like “Candy” and “Lust for Life,” Pop’s enduring energy and performance style continue to captivate audiences. This marks his second appearance at Colors of Ostrava,having previously performed in 2010.
The festival’s diverse musical offerings extend to British hitmakers Snow Patrol and reggae superstar Shaggy. The domestic music scene will also be well-represented by a variety of Czech artists.
beyond the music, the Meltingpot forum provides a platform for intellectual exchange. President Petr Pavel will engage in discussions, joining a roster of over two hundred international guests. Notable speakers include American geneticist Nir Barzilai and psychologist Deirdre Barrett, Danish Nobel laureate in chemistry Morten Meldal, and equestrian coach Phaedria marie St. Hilaire. Czech personalities such as Dana Drábová,Tomáš Břínek (TMBK),Tomáš Šebek,and Pam Rabbit will also participate.
