Trump on Russia’s G8 Exclusion and Ukraine Demilitarization Proposals
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has voiced his opinion that Russia’s exclusion from the Group of Eight (G8) was a misstep, suggesting it may have contributed too the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Speaking to reporters at the white House, Mr. Trump stated, If Russia was in the G8, if Russia was in it, I think we probably wouldn’t have waged this ridiculous, deadly war at the moment.
Despite this sentiment, Mr. Trump acknowledged that the possibility of Russia rejoining the now G7 is currently off the table.
Russia’s Perspective on Demilitarization Proposals
Meanwhile, Moscow reports a lack of official dialog from Kiev regarding proposals for a demilitarized zone along the line of contact in Ukraine.

Mr. Kellogg elaborated that Kiev was considering withdrawing its troops by 15 kilometers, with the expectation that the U.S. would persuade Russia to do the same, creating a 30-kilometer area that can be observed.
Mr. Peskov responded by stating, There was no statement from Kiev on this issue,
when asked if Russia would consider such a proposal from Ukraine.
