YouTube Music Expands with Spotify-Inspired Features & AI-Powered Podcast Tools

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA ⁣ – YouTube Music is rolling out a suite of new features designed to deepen artist-fan connections and enhance‌ the podcast experience, mirroring popular functionalities ‍from ⁣Spotify ‍and leveraging artificial⁢ intelligence. Announced⁤ this⁤ week, the updates include⁢ release countdowns, exclusive artist content, and a program⁣ for limited-edition⁤ merchandise drops, alongside AI-driven video generation for podcasts.

The first feature arriving on YouTube Music, inspired by Spotify’s countdown pages, ⁢is ⁢a Countdown function. This will‍ allow users to view a countdown timer for upcoming album releases directly on ⁤the album and artist detail pages, with the ability to pre-save⁤ albums or singles. ⁢ Exclusive video outputs are also planned for early next year, enabling artists to share thank-you videos, behind-the-scenes clips, and other fan-focused content.Rounding ‌out the new offerings⁤ is a pilot program for exclusive product drops, currently available to users in the United States,‌ allowing fans to purchase⁢ limited-edition merchandise directly from artists.

Beyond music, YouTube⁤ is addressing the surging popularity of podcasts – with users logging over 100 million hours of podcast listening daily ⁤as of July – by integrating artificial‍ intelligence. This feature is slated for release to select podcast creators at the beginning of next year.
