Xiaomi SU7: 15,000 Orders in 8 Hours – Specs & Price Revealed
BEIJING – Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xiaomi has received 15,000 orders for its SU7 sedan within eight hours of its release, signaling strong initial demand for the company’s first foray into the automotive market.
The SU7, which began accepting orders on March 28, 2024, is available in Standard, Pro and Max configurations. Pricing starts at ¥215,900 (approximately $30,000 USD) for the base model, rising to ¥245,900 ($34,000 USD) for the Pro and ¥299,900 ($41,600 USD) for the Max, according to Xiaomi.
The Standard model features a 73 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery and a rear-wheel-drive motor producing 315 horsepower. Xiaomi claims a CLTC-rated range of 720 km (447 miles) for this variant. The Pro version maintains the same motor output but upgrades to a 96.3 kWh battery, extending the range to 902 km (560 miles). The top-tier Max model boasts an even larger 101 kWh battery, offering a range of 800 km (497 miles) according to CLTC standards.
Xiaomi’s SU7 similarly incorporates advanced technology features, including a 16.1-inch central touchscreen display, a rotating 7.1-inch instrument panel, and a head-up display. The vehicle’s infotainment system supports expanded voice control and multi-screen interaction. Safety features include a high-strength steel body utilizing materials up to 2,200 MPa in tensile strength and nine airbags. An emergency door opening system with triple redundancy is also included.
The SU7 utilizes a “Dragon Chassis” featuring a double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear suspension. The Max variant is equipped with a dual-chamber air suspension system with adaptive dampers designed to proactively adjust to road conditions. The vehicle is built at Xiaomi’s Beijing factory.
According to Xiaomi, the “SU” designation stands for “Speed Ultra.”
