Xiaomi Aims for a 360-Degree User Experience
5 Questions with Tiago flores, General Manager of Xiaomi Portugal, on expanding into new markets, the role of retail, and competition.
Does entering the large appliance market complete Xiaomi’s “Human x Car x Home” vision in Portugal, with the car element still to come?
Portugal will soon see the full expansion of our strategy. As Xiaomi celebrates 15 years, we’re extending our ecosystem of connected appliances internationally, bolstering the “Home” pillar. Portugal will be among the first to receive these products. Our ultimate goal is to provide a comprehensive, 360-degree experience for our users. The car integration will follow, accelerating our overall strategy.
With the launch of these appliances, Xiaomi now directly competes with established brands like Samsung. How will you differentiate yourselves?
Xiaomi is uniquely positioned to offer the most comprehensive ecosystem due to the sheer breadth of our product categories. Our system, powered by HyperOS, is unified and easily controlled through a single app. The seamless connectivity is a key differentiator – smartphones automatically recognize new devices like headphones or smart clocks. We believe our combination of design, connectivity, and features will attract a large customer base.
How important is physical retail in showcasing Xiaomi’s connected ecosystem?
Physical stores are crucial. The Colombo store has been redesigned with this in mind and will feature dedicated space for our new appliances starting in November. We’re planning a full rollout across our partner’s chain of stores between 2026 and 2027, and actively engaging with other retail partners.
What is the key innovation in the upcoming Xiaomi 15T Pro?
The 15T Pro will feature our advanced periscope technology, including a 5x optical telephoto lens. This technology was previously exclusive to our ultra models. We’re proud to be the first in the industry to offer this level of optical zoom quality in a device priced under 1000 euros.
Beyond appliances, what can we expect from Xiaomi in the coming year?
We’ll be heavily focused on expanding our ecosystem further. Expect to see a wider range of refrigerators and washing machines. We’ll also be bringing our highly efficient (triple efficiency for both heating and cooling) and connected air conditioning technology - already launched in Spain – to Portugal, pushing the boundaries of efficiency and speed.
