WhatsApp Embraces Apple’s “Liquid Glass” Design in Latest iOS Update
Cupertino,CA – In a departure from its typically gradual rollout of new features,WhatsApp is swiftly adopting Apple’s new “Liquid Glass” design aesthetic for iPhone users. The update, first reported by WABetaInfo, brings a visual overhaul to the messaging app, aligning it more closely with the look and feel of native iOS applications like safari, Messages, and Mail.
Historically, WhatsApp has prioritized broad compatibility over immediate implementation of the latest design trends. Users previously waited 15 years for an iPad app and recently saw support for Live photos discontinued after a decade of availability. Even recent improvements to photo and video quality, offering slightly higher HD resolution since last year, haven’t allowed for full, original-quality sharing.
the “Liquid Glass” design manifests as a floating, semi-transparent bottom bar replacing the previous solid white or dark gray bar fixed to the screen’s edge. Options menus, accessed by long-pressing a message, now feature a semi-transparent field with text-based commands like “Archive” and “Delete,” shifting from the previous symbol-based system. The WhatsApp keyboard has also been updated to match the standard glassy keyboard now used across Apple’s apps.
Currently, the new design is limited to users participating in WhatsApp’s closed and open beta programs. A wider rollout is expected to occur in phases over the coming days or weeks.
