WhatsApp Security Flaw: Apple Users at Risk – Update Now

Critical whatsapp Security Gap: Apple Users ⁤Should Act⁤ Urgently

A recently discovered security vulnerability in WhatsApp allowed cybercriminals to potentially⁤ access chats on ⁢Apple devices without‌ requiring⁣ users to click links or download files. The “zero-click” exploit, first reported by Techcrunch adn detailed by Echo24, ‍has been addressed by Meta, but users must update their software to⁢ be fully protected.

The vulnerability, identified as CVE-2025-55177,⁤ specifically impacted Apple devices. When combined with a ⁢separate weakness in iOS and macOS, attackers could⁢ potentially ⁣install monitoring software.Apple released an​ operating⁢ system update on August 20 ⁢to⁤ mitigate this risk.

WhatsApp is urging users ‌with WhatsApp versions prior to 2.25.21.73, or WhatsApp Business/Mac versions before 2.25.21.78, to update ⁣immediately. According to WhatsApp, full protection requires both ⁢a WhatsApp ‍update and the latest operating system update for ⁢iPhones, iPads, ⁢and Macs. Experts recommend updating even if no direct warning has been received.
