Vietnamese MMA Duo Wins at YFU 97 in Henan Province
Two Vietnamese martial artists overcame a ten-centimeter height disadvantage to defeat a pair of Chinese brothers at the YFU 97 mixed martial arts event in Henan Province, securing a submission victory in the unique two-on-two discipline, Tuoi Tre reported.
Weight and Height Disparities in the Octagon
The bout featured the MMA Duo format, placing four athletes inside the octagon simultaneously. Representing Tank Club, Phan Huy Hoàng and Nguyễn Minh Hoàng faced home favorites Tổ Lực Khách Nhĩ and Tư Khảm Đạt Nhĩ. Pre-fight measurements outlined a notable physical gap. The two Chinese competitors stood at 1.74 meters or 1.75 meters tall, carrying a combined weight of 125.35 kilograms. Phan Huy Hoàng measured 1.69 meters, while Nguyễn Minh Hoàng stood at 1.65 meters, giving the shortest Vietnamese competitor a ten-centimeter height deficit. The total weight for the Tank Club duo sat at 124.4 kilograms.
Despite the physical imbalance, Phan Huy Hoàng entered the cage with an undefeated record in the two-on-two format, holding prior wins via knockout and submission. From the opening bell, the visiting team relied on agility, technical execution, and tactical coordination to neutralize their larger opponents.

Tactical Breakdown and the Turning Point
The Vietnamese pair immediately worked to separate the brothers, manufacturing one-on-one skirmishes across the canvas. Phan Huy Hoàng initiated an early submission attempt, locking in a rear-naked choke against Tổ Lực Khách Nhĩ, though the Chinese fighter successfully defended and applied counter-pressure.
Recognizing his teammate’s defensive struggle, Nguyễn Minh Hoàng altered his positioning, drawing Tư Khảm Đạt Nhĩ across the mat toward Phan Huy Hoàng to restore dual support. With roughly three minutes remaining, Nguyễn Minh Hoàng secured a rear-naked choke against Tư Khảm Đạt Nhĩ, forcing a tap-out.
The elimination reduced the contest from a two-on-two to a two-on-one advantage. Nguyễn Minh Hoàng maintained control of the remaining opponent, enabling Phan Huy Hoàng to land decisive strikes that concluded the match.

Social Media Reception and Rebuilding Plans
The performance drew widespread praise across regional martial arts forums and social media platforms, with local spectators applauding the finish. The Martial Arts Forum described the outcome as a source of pride achieved away from home. YFU’s official Douyin channel acknowledged the visitors as formidable competitors, while platforms including Baijiahao and Weibo highlighted the effective teamwork used to overcome the physical disparity.
Following the setback, the promotion published video footage of the Chinese brothers addressing the outcome. We are still young, and the road ahead is long. Next time we will definitely win back,
the home-team athletes declared.
