Klugman entered the week ranked world No. 341 and left it poised to break into the top 250 for the first time, lta.org.uk reported. The former world junior No. 1 pressed world No. 157 Elsa Jacquemot immediately. After missing her opening two break points, Klugman secured a break two games later and added a double break to seal the opening set.
The teenager raced to a 5-1 lead in the second set before Jacquemot fought back to 5-4. I was shaking afterwards, but just so, so happy and proud of myself again,
Klugman told bbc.co.uk, describing the match as the biggest of her career.

While bbc.co.uk highlighted the straight-sets victory and Klugman’s rapid rise through the tournament, lta.org.uk added context regarding her recent trajectory, noting her first World Tennis Tour win at a W50 event in Portugal the previous month. Klugman stated that she feels like a different player compared to the start of the year and confirmed plans to compete in a W75 tournament in Glasgow next week. I have such great people behind me, pushing me every day, and I think I’ve really made some massive steps in my tennis,
Klugman added.
Christie and Silva Win Fifth Doubles Title This Year
British success continued in the doubles final as Freya Christie and Eden Silva defeated fourth seeds Hiroko Kuwata of Japan and Ankita Raina of India 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and five minutes, according to lta.org.uk. The victory marked the fifth World Tennis Tour title the pair has won together this year.

Tournament director Richard Joyner noted the high standard of competition at the venue, telling lta.org.uk that the event featured players from inside the world’s top 200 alongside two from the top 100, representing unprecedented depth for a W100-level tournament. As well as the event being here to promote tennis in North Wales and Cheshire, it’s also put on with a view to helping our British players, so from the LTA Performance Competition Calendar, the success of the British players stepping up to often beat higher ranked players is impressive,
Joyner stated.
