Kim Jong-Un’s Sister Threatens Consequences Over US-led Military Drills

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – Kim Yo-Jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, has issued a stern warning to the United States, Japan, and South Korea, condemning their planned joint military exercises as a “hazardous idea” and threatening repercussions. The exercises, which recently concluded, are viewed by Pyongyang as rehearsals for invasion.

The warning, delivered through a statement to North Korea’s state-run Korean Central news Agency (KCNA), underscores the escalating tensions on the Korean peninsula. Kim Yo-Jong stated, “I want to remind the United States, Japan and South Korea that the ruthless demonstrations they plan to implement near North Korea will inevitably lead to negative consequences for themselves.”

Kim Yo-Jong is a key figure in the North Korean regime, serving as a close advisor to her brother and one of the few women in the country’s leadership. She has gained notoriety for her aggressive rhetoric and perceived role in the reported purges of high-ranking officials. In the past, she was linked to executions of powerful officials in North Korea, earning her the nickname “The Devil woman” among some observers.

This summer, kim Yo-Jong also sent a message to the US President, suggesting a potential meeting between Kim Jong-Un and the US leader, but only if the United States acknowledges North Korea’s status as a nuclear weapon state. She asserted that any pressure for nuclear disarmament would be seen as a provocation. “Any attempt to deny North Korea’s status as a nuclear weapon will be wholly rejected,” she stated.

North Korea has substantially invested in developing its nuclear arsenal during kim Jong-Un’s time in power, a pursuit that continues to fuel regional instability and international concern.
