US Exim Bank Chairman: Jovanovic Confirmed by Senate

Senate confirms John Jovanovic as President and ⁢Chairman of US Export-Import Bank

WASHINGTON⁤ D.C. – The U.S. ‌Senate on September 18 confirmed John Jovanovic as the next President and Chairman ⁤of the Export-import Bank of‍ the United States (US Exim), solidifying​ a key appointment by the‍ Trump management. The vote was 51-47,‌ falling along party⁤ lines.

Jovanovic, nominated by President Trump ⁤in March, will lead the agency responsible for financing U.S.⁢ exports and supporting American jobs. He has pledged a‍ “bold new era” ⁤for the bank, focused on prioritizing American‍ industry and ensuring‍ fair treatment for U.S. companies globally. “Our mission is clear: more exports, more jobs, a stronger ‌America. Now ‍let’s get too work,” Jovanovic stated in a video​ released⁢ September 19.

Prior to his appointment, Jovanovic served as Chief ‌Strategy Officer at Asplundh‍ Tree Expert until July. His previous experience includes roles at Nova Fleet, Mercuria, and ​the‍ U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), where he was a Managing Director for the Western Balkans from September 2020 to March 2021.

In ⁤a statement last week, Jovanovic outlined his vision for Exim, promising to “move faster, deliver ‌smarter, and ensure US workers never fight ⁢with one hand tied behind their back.” He emphasized collaboration with the ​Administration, Congress, and the private sector.

Jovanovic succeeds interim ⁤chair spencer Bachus, who ‍took the helm following Reta Jo Lewis’ departure in January. Under Bachus’ leadership, the agency has continued to operate, recently approving $4.7 billion in financing for a Mozambique LNG project – a decision currently facing legal challenges – ⁤and lifting restrictions on support ⁤for coal-fired⁤ power projects.

Jovanovic is married to Daphne Oz, daughter ‍of television personality Dr. Mehmet Oz, a supporter of President Trump who currently serves as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
