US ‍Considers Leaflet Campaign in Venezuela to Increase Pressure ⁢on Maduro

CARACAS – ‌The United States‍ government is ⁤reportedly considering a “psychological operation” involving the distribution of leaflets ⁣over Caracas,Venezuela,to escalate‍ pressure on President Nicolás ‍Maduro⁤ to ‍leave power. ⁢According to sources cited by The Washington Post, the leaflets would advertise the $50‍ million reward offered for information leading to Maduro’s arrest⁢ and‍ conviction.

The potential operation comes as diplomatic ‌efforts continue, including a planned ‌meeting between Ukrainian peace plan delegates and U.S.⁤ Senator Marco Rubio. It‍ also⁢ coincides with maduro’s 63rd birthday, November 23rd, and‍ follows reports in The new York ⁢Times of prior negotiations-rejected ‌by the⁤ U.S.-regarding ⁤a potential departure from power within two years.‌

The ‌move is ‌part of a ⁣broader strategy that⁣ includes a reinforced U.S.⁤ military presence in the Caribbean and Latin America, framed ⁢by the Donald trump Administration⁢ as its ‘Lance‍ of ⁤the South’ operation and a counter-narcotics effort. Maduro has⁢ characterized this deployment as an attempt ⁤to remove him from power, prompting increased military ‌preparedness exercises ⁢within Venezuela.

On November 22nd, the United States Federal⁢ Aviation Administration (FAA)⁣ issued ⁢an international notice urging ⁢”extreme⁤ caution” when ‍flying over Venezuela and the southern Caribbean Sea. Several airlines,⁢ including Iberia, TAP, Gol, and Avianca, subsequently ‍suspended flights‍ to the country. However, Venezuelan airline Avior announced it would⁢ maintain its national and ⁤international ⁣flights, while Colombian airline Wingo stated it would‍ continue normal ‌operations.
