Ukraine Re-establishes Diplomatic Ties with Syria, Gains Momentum on Frozen Russian Assets
KYIV – ukraine has restored diplomatic relations with Syria, President volodymyr Zelenskyy announced following a meeting with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, signaling a renewed effort to broaden international cooperation. Zelenskyy stated Ukraine is actively working with Syria ”bilaterally for the security and growth of both countries.”
The proclamation came alongside updates on Ukraine’s efforts to secure funding for its defence and recovery. Zelenskyy reported receiving “positive signals from partners on the use of frozen Russian assets” for these purposes.
Ukraine is also focused on bolstering its domestic arms industry and initiating controlled exports of Ukrainian-made weapons. “Another agreement was reached on this,” Zelenskyy said, “and we are already working with four countries to open our export platforms.”
Zelenskyy further noted record-level participation from international representatives in events related to Ukraine,indicating growing global consensus. He expressed confidence that the international community increasingly recognizes Russia as the sole impediment to ending the ongoing war, and that pressure on Moscow will therefore continue.
