Transfer News: Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea & Barcelona All Linked With Moves | Football Gossip

March 21, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Arsenal have intensified their pursuit of Roma right-back Wesley Franca, according to reports, as the North London club prepares for a potential overhaul of its defensive options this summer. The 22-year-old Brazilian international has emerged as a key target, with the Gunners potentially sanctioning the sale of current right-back Ben White to fund a move.

TEAMtalk reported that Arsenal’s interest in Franca is “significant,” particularly after an impressive season with Roma. The club’s recruitment staff are actively assessing alternatives in the right-back position, with Franca’s athleticism, attacking prowess, and defensive maturity highly valued. Everton are likewise reportedly monitoring the situation, potentially benefiting from a shared ownership structure with Roma that could facilitate negotiations.

Franca joined Roma in July 2025, signing a five-year contract, and has quickly established himself as a key player, scoring four goals in 26 Serie A appearances this season as of March 19, 2026, according to data from Wikipedia. Prior to his move to Italy, Franca played for Flamengo from 2021 to 2025, making 78 appearances and scoring two goals.

The potential sale of Ben White is reportedly driving Arsenal’s active search for a replacement. The Telegraph has reported that Arsenal are under pressure to sell players this summer, with few first-team players considered untouchable. Other potential targets for Arsenal include Tino Livramento of Newcastle, Nnamdi Collins of Eintracht Frankfurt, and Vanderson of Monaco.

Elsewhere in European football, Liverpool are reportedly leading the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, having held talks with the player’s representatives on two occasions, according to Caught Offside. Chelsea are also interested, but Liverpool are currently considered the frontrunners. Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has expressed uncertainty regarding the future of Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford, whose loan deal includes a £26 million option to buy, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

Several other transfer developments are unfolding across Europe. Barcelona winger Raphinha has ruled out a move before the finish of the 2026-27 season despite interest from Saudi Arabia (Sport). Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes remains committed to the club and will not prioritize a higher salary in contract negotiations (Newcastle Chronicle). Fulham’s attempt to sign PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi has been temporarily halted despite the player completing a medical (Fabrizio Romano). Manchester City have no intention of allowing Erling Haaland to leave this summer, despite reported interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid (Football Insider).
