Buffalo Bills‘ Darius Slay Situation Highlights Active Week for State Alums Across NFL
A potential retirement decision by veteran cornerback Darius slay, recently claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Bills after being cut by Pittsburgh, casts a spotlight on a busy Week 14 for Mississippi State football alums throughout the NFL. Slay’s contemplation adds intrigue to a slate of games featuring numerous former Bulldogs impacting their teams, both on the field and on the sidelines. This week’s matchups showcase State’s broad representation across the league, from key players in playoff contention to rising coaches and medical leadership.
Mississippi State continues to be well-represented in the NFL, with players contributing at every level.Currently, Gray (Buccaneers), Marcus Banks (buccaneers), Jaden Crumedy (Panthers) and Tire Phillips (Browns) are members of practice squads. Martin Emerson and Nathaniel Watson are on injured reserve for the Browns and will miss the 2025 season, while Jenkins is on injured reserve for the Packers. Beyond the field, Stephen adegoke serves as the safeties coach for the Houston Texans, Fred Walker is an offensive assistant for the Jacksonville Jaguars, K.J. Wright is a defensive quality control coach for the San Francisco 49ers,and DeAndre Ward is the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dr.Allen sills also serves as the NFL’s chief medical officer.
