‘SNL‘ Revives Beloved Domingo Sketch with host Sabrina Carpenter
New York, NY - Saturday Night Live brought back its popular “Domingo” sketch during an episode hosted by singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter, marking her first time as host and second appearance as musical guest. The sketch, featuring Kenan Thompson as the hilariously overzealous Domingo, saw him “arresting” Carpenter for repeatedly impersonating a police officer during her concerts, joking, “And you’re arresting innocent hot people.”
The revival of the “Domingo” sketch, a fan favorite from previous seasons, underscores SNL’s strategy of blending current events with established, well-received characters to draw viewership. Carpenter’s episode follows hosting gigs by Bad Bunny and Amy Poehler, kicking off season 51. the show continues to be a launchpad for both established and rising stars, and the inclusion of recurring bits like “Domingo” provides a familiar touchstone for longtime viewers. Upcoming hosts include Miles Teller, Nikki Glaser, and Glen Powell.
Carpenter also notably performed a rendition of Simon & Garfunkel’s ”Homeward Bound” alongside Paul Simon, echoing a similar collaboration at the show’s 50th anniversary special. Bowen Yang was absent from the taping, attending the 2025 Academy Museum Gala where he received the Vantage Award.
The episode featured cameos from former cast members Tina Fey and Seth Meyers during Poehler’s hosting stint the previous week. Fey impersonated Kristi noem in the cold open, while Poehler portrayed Pam Bondi. SNL announced its next wave of guests, with Teller hosting on November 1, glaser and Powell making their debuts on November 8 and 15, respectively.
