gemini 3 Launches, Google Focuses on AI Integration Across Products
google has released Gemini 3, its moast advanced artificial intelligence model to date, boasting cutting-edge reasoning, multimedia, and coding capabilities. The company is emphasizing that this release isn’t simply a standalone model or chatbot, but a key component in improving existing Google products, beginning with its search business.
Demis hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, Google’s AI-focused subsidiary, stated, “We are the engine room of Google, and we’re plugging in AI everywhere now,” in a recent interview with WIRED.
The launch comes amid growing concerns about a potential AI bubble, with many unproven startups receiving ample investments and companies like Google investing billions in new data centers for AI training and operation. However, Hassabis believes Google is well-positioned to weather any market downturn. The company is already leveraging AI to enhance products like Google Maps, Gmail, and Search.”In the downside scenario, we will lean more on that,” Hassabis said. “In the upside scenario, I think we’ve got the broadest portfolio and the most pioneering research.”
Google is also developing new AI-powered tools such as NotebookLM, which automatically generates podcasts from written content, and AI Studio, a platform for prototyping AI applications. The company is also exploring applications in gaming and robotics, anticipating long-term benefits irrespective of broader market trends.
Gemini 3 is now available through the Gemini app and integrated into Google Search’s AI Overviews feature, which synthesizes information alongside conventional search results.Demonstrations showed Gemini 3 generating custom interactive visualizations in response to complex queries, such as requests for information about the three-body problem in physics.
According to Robby Stein, vice president of product for Google Search, the company has observed “double-digit” year-over-year increases in natural language queries – those most likely directed at AI Overviews. Google has also reported a 70 percent increase in visual search, which relies on Gemini’s image analysis capabilities.
The release of Gemini 3 follows a period where Google was challenged by the rapid emergence of chatgpt in 2022, which propelled OpenAI to prominence and presented a potential alternative to traditional web search.
