Lahore, Pakistan - August 29, 2024 – Pakistan has announced its 15-member squad for both the upcoming ODI series against South Africa and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, with fatima Sana named captain and Muneeba Ali Siddiqui as vice-captain. This marks the first ODI World Cup selection for several players: Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Eyman Fatima, Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Omaima Sohail, rameen Shamim (8 ODIs, 11 T20Is), Sadaf Shamas (15 ODIs, 12 T20Is), Sadia Iqbal (27 ODIs, 50 T20Is), shawaal Zulfiqar (3 ODIs, 9 T20Is) and Syeda Aroob Shah (2 ODIs, 15 T20Is).
The squad includes three players – 21-year-old Syeda Aroob Shah, 20-year-old Shawaal Zulfiqar, and 20-year-old Eyman Fatima – who previously represented Pakistan in the inaugural ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup held in South Africa in January 2023. This demonstrates a commitment to developing young talent within the national team.
Two changes have been made to the 15-member squad that participated in the ICC Women’s CWC Qualifier. Eyman Fatima and Sadaf Shamas have been included, replacing gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi. Feroza,Alvi,Tuba Hassan,Umm-e-hani,and Waheeda Akhtar have been named as the five non-travelling reserves.
The selected players and reserves will begin a 14-day pre-series camp starting Friday, August 29th, in preparation for the South Africa series. Under the guidance of head coach Muhammad Wasim and his staff, the camp will focus on practice sessions and 50-over match simulations. Further details regarding the camp schedule will be released shortly.
The South Africa women’s cricket team is scheduled to arrive in Lahore on September 12th.
