Omoda Jaecoo Unveils O4 SUV, targeting Young Global Market with Bold Design & Diverse Powertrain Options
Wuhu, China – Omoda Jaecoo has officially revealed its new SUV, the O4, a model positioned to appeal to a younger demographic with its aggressive styling and planned availability of multiple powertrain options. The O4, wich replaces the previously designated “Omoda 3,” boasts a longer wheelbase and a name change driven by internal feedback suggesting “4” better represented the vehicle’s character.
The decision to rebrand from “3” to “4” stemmed from discussions with colleagues and industry insiders. “When we discussed it with friends and colleagues, 3 didn’t seem to adequately describe this car. 4 was better and we also wanted to have something like 3+1 and be more creative with our consumers,” explained Omoda & Jaecoo International CEO Shawn Xu during the Omoda 4 global Preview. “After getting that message, we felt 4 was more suitable to describe this SUV.”
Production of the Omoda O4 is slated to begin next year, with the vehicle offered globally with a range of engine choices including internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and full electric options – leveraging Omoda Jaecoo’s complete powertrain technology.
The O4’s exterior design features narrowed, lightning-inspired headlights and an overall more aggressive aesthetic. Inside, designers drew inspiration from spaceships, culminating in a unique design element: a red flap that must be lifted to activate the engine start/stop button, reminiscent of the Lamborghini Urus. A large central touchscreen dominates the interior, alongside retained physical buttons for key settings.
shawn Xu confirmed the company is considering bringing the Omoda O4 to Indonesia as early as next year. “Of course (entering Indonesia), if you like,” he stated.
