Federal Road & Motorway Projects to Begin Construction Across Germany
Berlin – Construction is slated to commence shortly on 23 federal road and motorway projects spanning seven German states, representing a significant investment in the nation’s transportation infrastructure. The projects, detailed by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, aim to alleviate congestion, improve safety, and bolster regional connectivity.
This wave of construction addresses critical infrastructure needs identified in Germany’s ongoing efforts to modernize its transport network. The projects will impact commuters,freight transport companies,and regional economies across Niedersachsen,Nordrhein-Westfalen,Rheinland-Pfalz,Sachsen,Sachsen-Anhalt,Schleswig-Holstein,and Thüringen. The initiatives are part of a broader strategy to enhance Germany’s position as a leading logistics hub in Europe and support sustainable economic growth.
Project Breakdown by State:
Niedersachsen: Work will begin on the A 20 motorway between Westerstede (A 28) and Jaderberg (A 29).
Nordrhein-Westfalen: Five projects are planned in this state: improvements to the B 64 and B 83 near Höxter / Godelheim; upgrades to the A 43 motorway between AS Bochum-Gerthe and AS Bochum-Riemke; completion of the A44 motorway section between Ratingen-Ost and Heiligenhaus; and enhancements to the A 57 motorway between AS Krefeld-Oppum and AS Krefeld-Gartenstadt.
Rheinland-pfalz: Two projects are scheduled: upgrades to the B 50 road near “Zolleiche” extending to the border between Bernkastel-Wittlich and Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis, and improvements to the A 1 motorway between Kelberg and Adenau.
Sachsen: Construction will focus on the B 169 road between Salbitz and the B 6, marking the third phase of the project.
Sachsen-Anhalt: A new bypass is planned for Miesterhorst along the B 188 road.
Schleswig-Holstein: Work will begin on the A 20 motorway between Wittenborn (B 206) and Weede.
Thüringen: Improvements are planned for the B 4 road in the Sundhäuser Berge area.
