by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Pleasanton, CA – Nearly 450 young cricketers will compete in the eighth annual National Pleasanton-san Ramon-Dublin Youth Cricket Tournament over the Thanksgiving weekend, beginning next thursday and running through Sunday. The tournament, featuring under-10, U12, U14, and U16 divisions, will showcase 15 different cricket clubs.

The event’s growing prominence reflects the rising popularity of cricket in the United States, with past participants having gone on to represent the USA National Cricket Team, both men and women. Uniquely, this tournament is the only cricket competition in the U.S. officially hosted by municipal governments – a joint effort by the cities of Pleasanton,San Ramon, and Dublin, with support from Alameda County.

Organized by Cricket for Cubs, San Ramon Cricket Association, and Dublin Cricket League, the tournament will be held across multiple locations: Bernal Community Park (Pleasanton), Fallon Sports Park (Dublin), Rancho San Ramon Park and Quail Run Elementary School (San Ramon), Sycamore Valley Park (Danville), and venues in Fremont and Davis.

“Many players who have played in this tournament have gone on to represent the USA National Cricket Team, both men and women,” said Rameshu Immadi, co-organizer from Cricket for Cubs. The recent relocation of the Minor League Cricket franchise, the San Ramon Grizzlies, has further bolstered the sport’s presence in the Tri-Valley area.

The tournament schedule can be found at www.psdyct.org,culminating in a closing ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 30th, at the Stanford Medicine Sports Complex at Bernal in Pleasanton.
