This international expansion is a key part of the NFL’s Global Markets Program, launched in 2022, which allows teams to build their brand and cultivate fan bases outside of the United States. The Packers aim to showcase not just the excitement of American football, but also the unique character of their organization – a community-owned team deeply rooted in Wisconsin’s traditions and Midwestern values.
Founded in 1919, the Green Bay Packers stand apart as the only publicly-owned professional sports team in the U.S., boasting over half a million fan-owners. Despite representing a small city – Green Bay, Wisconsin, with a population of just over 100,000 - the Packers are the NFL’s most successful franchise, claiming 13 championships, including four Super Bowl victories.
Lambeau Field, the Packers’ legendary home stadium, has been sold out for every game since 1960, renowned for its electric atmosphere and welcoming pre-game tailgates. The team and its devoted fans, affectionately known as ”Cheeseheads” for their iconic foam cheese hats, represent a beloved tradition that unites a community, a state, and now, a growing international fanbase.
