Güstrow, Germany – Investigators are pursuing new leads in the death of eight-year-old Fabian, whose body was discovered near Klein Upahl on Tuesday, confirming it was the boy who disappeared a week prior. Preliminary autopsy results indicate he was the victim of a violent crime.
According to a report in “Bild,” police are searching for a pickup truck with a trailer perhaps connected to the case. A witness reported being questioned by a police officer regarding such a vehicle seen traveling along the road through Klein Upahl towards the fields where FabianS body was found.The public prosecutor’s office has not yet confirmed this data.
Investigators re-examined the area Friday, focusing on a pond where firefighters partially pumped out water and searched with a metal detector-like device, also removing bushes.The public prosecutor’s office has released no information regarding any findings.
Police are urging the public to refrain from speculation on social media, stating, “We continue to ask you not to take part in these speculations. All official and verified findings will be published by the Rostock public prosecutor’s office or through our channels.”
Fabian was reported missing by his mother on the evening of Friday, October 11th, prompting a large-scale search involving helicopters, boats, and canine units.
Athletes commemorated Fabian at a men’s over 35 district football game between TSV Thürkow and ETSV Güstrow eV on Friday,with Güstrow players wearing mourning ribbons and displaying a framed jersey belonging to the eight-year-old.
The investigation continues, with authorities stating every lead will be pursued.
