Thomas Markle Jr Under Investigation Over Child Abuse Material in Philippines
In October, it became known that Thomas Markle Sr., the father of Meghan, was said to have left behind a large quantity of child sexual abuse material at his former residence in the province of Cebu, the Philippines.
Discovery in Cebu
The investigation began after Thomas Markle Jr., the 60-year-old half-brother of Meghan Markle, found images and videos inside the former property in Cebu. Thomas Markle Jr. stated that he contacted police in the Philippines after making the discovery and also reported the findings to authorities in the United States in July. Markle Senior, who has since returned to live in the United States, rejected the allegations and labeled them as sick lies.
Philippine authorities have secured approximately 7,500 photos and one video containing recordings of children from Asia, Latin America, and Europe who were allegedly abused. Juanito Victor Remulla in Manila described the recovered material as particularly disturbing. Local authorities confirmed that Markle Jr. handed over four boxes of evidence, which included computers, mobile phones, hard drives, and old videotapes. The police in Cebu obtained a judicial warrant last week to examine the seized data carriers and documents.
Investigation Focus on Thomas Markle Jr.
While Markle Senior now lives in the United States, his son has also drawn scrutiny from investigators in the Philippines. Juanito Victor Remulla stated that Markle Jr. could potentially be involved in the alleged offenses, citing witness testimonies. However, authorities currently treat him only as a person of interest rather than a formal suspect. Officials have not released specific details regarding why Markle Jr. has come under investigation by local law enforcement.
