Nearly 50 residents of the village, located about 15 kilometers from Saint-Girons, were left in deep sadness by the event. The parquet de Foix confirmed that no inquiry has been opened, as the accident involved no suspicious elements or third-party intervention, specifying qu’en l’absence de tout élément suspect et d’intervention de tiers, s’agissant d’un accident, aucune enquête n’a été ouverte par le parquet.

Two vehicles from the Ariège departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS), comprising six firefighters, deployed to the scene alongside the gendarmerie and the mobile emergency and resuscitation structure (SMUR). Neighbors quickly learned of the emergency response as the presence of emergency services and law enforcement inevitably drew attention and worried the neighborhood.

Locals described the victim as a long-standing resident deeply rooted in the community. “C’était quelqu’un de très apprécié,” one Salseinois stated, noting that residents in small villages participate closely in local life. Another resident added in a serious tone, C’était une personne que je connaissais depuis toujours et que je voyais tous les jours, while noting that everyone is appalled and saddened by what happened.

Questions remain regarding the exact mechanics of the tragedy. “Est-ce qu’il y a eu un problème mécanique ou médical ? Il rangeait son bois comme à son habitude à cet endroit.
