Bogotรก, Colombia – โOctober 28, 2025 โ – Senator Marรญa Josรฉ Pizarro is asserting her position as theโฃ head of the Ancient Pact’s Senate list following a primary consultation that saw Ivรกn โCepeda win the presidential nomination, a โขmove contested by former Healthโข Minister Carolina Corcho. The dispute threatensโค to fracture the coalition that propelled Gustavo Petro to the โpresidency in 2022.
Corcho โremained a presidential aspirant even after the Historical Pact consolidated support โคbehindโ Cepeda, unlike other contenders โwho โpledged their congressional lists to senator โฃPizarro.”We all assume โขthat duty, with theโฃ exceptionโ ofโค Carolina Corcho, who did not attend the deliberations, and decided โto participate inโค theโ consultation, in which Ivรกn โCepeda was the winner at the polls, withโฃ votes that represent theโข will of the Historical Pact and the societyโข that โขaccompanies us,” Pizarro stated on โher X account.
The primary aimed to unite the coalition against former medellรญn โMayor Daniel Quintero, with most sitting congressmen aligning with Cepeda.โฃ Corcho, however, pursued her candidacy largely independently.โข
Pizarro is now urgingโข Corcho to acknowledge her โdefeat.”He lost and mustโค assume the consequences of hisโ decisions,” Pizarro emphasized, signaling a potential escalation โฃof the โฃconflict that โcould involve the electoral courts.
The Historical โPact implemented a direct popularโ vote system to select its candidates for President and Congress, with over 2,700,000 citizens participating in the recent consultation, accordingโค to Pizarro.
