Spotify Launches ₹499 Annual Premium Offer for Diwali – But There’s a Catch
New Delhi: Spotify is offering a significant discount on its Premium yearly subscription in India, dropping the price to ₹499 during its Diwali promotional period. This represents a substantial saving of ₹891 compared to the standard annual cost of ₹1,390. However, the offer is exclusively for new users.
The limited-time deal, running until November 12th, is designed to attract first-time subscribers to the platform. Existing Spotify users, even those without a Premium subscription, are ineligible for the discounted rate. To take advantage of the offer, potential subscribers will need to create a new Spotify account and sign up for Premium.
This price cut isn’t unprecedented for Spotify, which has previously offered similar discounts to compete with rivals like Apple Music and YouTube Music. Currently, Spotify’s regular individual monthly subscription costs ₹139, and the family sharing plan is priced at ₹229 – the highest in the Indian market. Apple Music and YouTube Music both offer monthly subscriptions for ₹119.
The proclamation follows a recent partnership between Spotify and Netflix. the two companies agreed to bring a selection of Spotify’s podcasts – including content from Spotify Studios and The Ringer, spanning genres like sports, culture, lifestyle, and true crime – to the Netflix platform, beginning in the US in 2026, with further international expansion planned. This move is expected to broaden Spotify’s reach and audience.
