From Humble Beginnings to International Glory: Sonra Taekwondo’s Rise in Vietnam

Son La, Vietnam -‌ What began as a local interest has blossomed into a national powerhouse. ‍Sonra Taekwondo,⁤ hailing ⁢from the Son La⁣ province of Vietnam,‍ is ⁤experiencing a period of unprecedented⁢ success, marked by⁤ consistent ⁣victories on both regional and international stages. the dedication of its coaches, the unwavering support of ⁤families, and, ‌crucially, the talent and determination of its athletes are driving​ this remarkable ascent in the world of martial arts.

“in recent ​years, Son Ra Taekwondo players have reached regional and international levels, contributing‍ to leaving a meaningful⁢ footprint in the ⁤martial arts world,”⁤ stated Ho Minh son, highlighting the program’s growing⁢ influence.

Sonra Taekwondo boasts an notable medal ​count, ⁢including two gold medals at the ​2018⁢ and⁢ 2022 national championships, two ⁣gold medals at the 30th and 31st Southeast Asian Games, bronze medals at the 19th Asian Games in China, a gold medal at the 2024 Asian taekwondo Championship, ‌and a remarkable seven⁤ gold medals at the Southeast Asian Taekwondo Championships. Numerous accolades have also been ⁣earned in national tournaments.

Names like‍ Bac Thi ‌Khiem, Lem Thi Thao, Hoang Thi‌ Huyen, and Luong Thi⁢ Hai Yen ‍are ‍becoming​ synonymous with success, ⁢having excelled in youth and national championships and ‌proudly⁢ representing‌ Vietnam⁣ on ​the global stage. ‍ BakikiM recently added to⁢ this legacy,​ securing a gold medal at the ⁣2025 Southeast Asian ‌Taekwondo Championship.

The program’s success isn’t solely ⁢based on athletic prowess.⁤ Coach ⁣Quang‌ Ban Rick emphasizes the‌ challenging backgrounds of ⁤manny of⁤ the athletes.⁢ “Most of the team players are from the region, and ‌many‌ players are suffering from difficult⁤ families,” he explained. “But thanks to their family’s passion ‌and⁢ support,⁣ they ​can overcome all difficulties and focus on⁢ training.”

Rick’s coaching philosophy‍ extends ⁣beyond technical​ skill, prioritizing discipline and a familial⁣ atmosphere. “The players are young‌ and far​ from their hometowns, so the​ coaches are as ‍if they were brothers and fathers ​and cared for them,” he said.
