Snapchat Now Charges for Memories Storage, Caps Free Tier at 5GB
LOS ANGELES, CA – Snapchat users will now need to pay for storage beyond 5GB for their “memories” content, the company announced this month. Previously uncapped, the platform is introducing three paid storage tiers to accommodate users with extensive saved Snaps.
Free users are allocated 5GB of storage. Those exceeding this limit will receive 12 months of temporary storage to download content or upgrade to a paid plan before content deletion begins.
Available plans include:
* Snapchat Memories introductory plan: 100 GB for $1.99 per month.
* Snapchat+ plan: 250 GB for $3.99 per month.
* Snapchat Platinum: 5 TB for $15.99 per month.
Snapchat launched the Memories feature in July 2016, allowing users to revisit previously posted content. The platform currently boasts over 900 million monthly active users, with India (210 million) and the United States (105 million) representing its largest user bases. daily active users number approximately 460 million.
