London-based post-punk ⁣trio Shopping have announced their‍ disbandment, releasing what they’ve billed ‍as their final single, “White ‍Noise,” accompanied by a new music video. The‌ proclamation followed a post on ⁣Friday, August 15.

Formed in London,England in 2012,Shopping’s ‍sound drew meaningful influence from foundational post-punk⁤ acts like Mo-dettes, Gang ⁢of Four, and delta 5. The band comprised ⁢guitarist Ray Aggs, bassist Billy Easter, and drummer ‌Andrew Milk. ⁢ All three⁣ members ⁢previously played together in the⁢ band Covergirl.

Shopping initially gained attention after their 2013‌ debut album, ⁢ Consumer Complaints, was reissued by FatCat‌ Records in 2015. Despite often stating their primary goal was⁤ to create danceable music rather than deliver political ‍statements, the band became recognized for their exploration⁤ of queer alienation within a capitalist framework.

They ⁢followed up ⁣with the album Why⁣ Choose ⁣ in 2015. In 2018, they released ⁣ The ‌Official Body,‌ which ⁢featured a more expansive ⁢sound and propelled the band to⁣ international touring status. Pitchfork included both The Official Body and their 2020 release, All or ⁢Nothing,‌ on their lists of the best⁢ rock albums of⁤ their respective years.

“This song ⁤and video are full ⁤of unbelievable memories, all made possible by the⁤ love and support of our fans,”‌ shopping‍ shared on Instagram.”You’ve⁤ taken us far and wide ⁤on so many ‌adventures, and we’re truly thankful for every⁢ single moment. It’s bittersweet, but mostly we feel grateful for you, our community, and for all the joy and noise⁢ we’ve made⁢ together. See you tomorrow 🫶”
