Bay FC Breaks Ground on New Performance Center on treasure Island, San Francisco
San Francisco, CA – September 18, 2025 – Bay Football Club (Bay FC), the Bay Area’s newest National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) franchise, and the City and County of San Francisco today celebrated the groundbreaking of a state-of-the-art sports performance center on Treasure Island.The facility represents a significant investment in the revitalization of the former 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition site and U.S. Naval base,contributing to its transformation into a sustainable,mixed-use neighborhood.
The performance center will provide comprehensive resources for Bay FC athletes, focusing on both on-field performance and off-field development. Designed by Olson Kundig and constructed by Devcon Construction Inc., the facility boasts sweeping 360-degree views of san Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the East Bay. it will integrate athletic training with recovery resources, career development programs, educational opportunities, and business training, supporting the long-term success of Bay FC players.

The project has been developed in collaboration with the City of San Francisco,the Treasure island Development Authority,and the City Administrator’s Office,ensuring integration with the island’s recreational landscape and opportunities for youth engagement.
bay FC is committed to community partnerships on Treasure Island. The club reaffirmed its support for Life Learning Academy, a local nonprofit and public high school, by continuing to offer internships to students and collaborating on a new health and wellness platform. Bay FC also recently partnered with Treasure Island-based Pacific House Gin to launch Bay FC Poppy, a limited-edition gin inspired by the club’s regional dedication.
Founded in April 2023 by USWNT legends Brandi Chastain, Leslie Osborne, Danielle Slaton, and Aly Wagner, in partnership with Sixth Street and a group of investors, Bay FC is the 14th team in the NWSL. Sixth Street’s investment represents the largest institutional investment to date in a women’s professional sports franchise. Bay FC begins play in the 2024 season.
