Samsung Galaxy Phones Gain Exclusive Early Access to Google‘s New ’Scroll and Translate‘ AI Feature
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – September 26, 2024 – select Samsung Galaxy users will be the first to experience a notable upgrade to Google’s Circle to Search, thanks to the rollout of the new “Scroll and Translate” feature this week. The enhancement provides continuous, real-time translation of on-screen content as users scroll or switch between applications, eliminating the previous need to repeatedly activate the translation function.
This development marks a notable benefit for Samsung smartphone owners, as Google has chosen to prioritize Galaxy devices for the initial release-ahead of its own Pixel line and other Android brands. the feature addresses a key frustration with previous translation tools, which often required re-engagement after interruptions like app switching. Google’s decision to partner with Samsung for this early access underscores the close collaboration between the two tech giants and highlights Samsung’s position as a leader in the android ecosystem.
The Scroll and Translate feature builds upon Circle to Search, allowing users to seamlessly understand content in different languages without leaving their current app. Previously, the translation would cease functioning when users navigated away from the initial translation screen. Now, the feature maintains translation as users browse, offering a more fluid and convenient experience.
Google announced the upgrade via its official blog, sharing a presentation video showcasing the feature’s capabilities. The company anticipates the rollout will begin this week, initially targeting Samsung’s premium Galaxy devices, including the Z series foldables, the S series smartphones, and the Tab S series tablets. Expansion to other Galaxy devices and eventually non-Samsung Android phones is expected to follow.
