Two Russian Tu-22M3 bombers from the long-range aviation division of the Russian Aerospace Forces have performed a planned flight over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea. This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Defense on the Telegram channel.
The ministry showed a video showing moments of the take-off and tracking of the bombers in the sky. It also shows footage from the cockpit.
During the flight, the Tu-22M3s were escorted by Russian Su-30SM fighters. The planes were in the air for about five hours. “At certain stages of the route, the long-range bombers were escorted by fighter jets of foreign countries,” the Ministry of Defense said.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that similar flights over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Black and Baltic seasas well as over the Pacific Ocean, are carried out regularly and are carried out in accordance with international law.
In September, two Russian Tu-22M3 bombers also carried out a planned flight over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea. It also lasted about five hours and they were escorted by Air Force Su-35S fighters.
