Rostock & Region Braces for Weekend of Cultural Events & Holiday Markets
Rostock and surrounding communities are set to host a diverse array of events this weekend, ranging from international model railway displays to classical music concerts and festive Advent markets. The packed schedule offers entertainment for all ages and interests, drawing visitors from across the region and beyond.
This weekend’s offerings provide a significant boost to local tourism and cultural engagement as the holiday season approaches. Events like the “Market in Flames” and Advent markets support local artisans and businesses, while performances at venues like the Volkstheater and Rostock Art Gallery enrich the region’s vibrant arts scene.
Rostock will feature theatrical performances of “The Devil with Three Golden Hairs” at 11 a.m.Saturday in the volkstheater and ”Snow White and Rose Red” in stage 602. Author Helga Schubert will present a reading from her new novel, “Air to Life,” at the Peter Weiss Literaturhaus on sunday at 3 p.m.
Nearby Warnemünde hosts the “NDR Jazztime-bigband-Ball MV” Saturday evening at the Hotel Neptun. The Rostock Art Gallery will present a chamber concert by the “Morgensternquartet” on Sunday at 6 p.m.,performing works by Shostakovich and Beethoven.
Outside of Rostock, Kühlungsborn welcomes an international model railway exhibition at the Hotel “Aquamarin” Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with guests from Poland, France, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Graal-Müritz and Bastorf will host advent craft markets on Saturday, open until 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively. The open-air museum Klockenhagen offers a creative advent market until 4 p.m. Saturday. Bad Doberan‘s “Market in Flames” will run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, featuring fire shows, live music, and hot drinks. Ribnitz‘s St. Mary’s Church will celebrate “Eternity Sunday” with choral works at 5 p.m.
