Singaporean Passenger Among Victims After Car Hits Lorry
A tragic road accident on Sunday morning claimed the lives of a ride-hailing driver and a Singaporean passenger near Johor Bahru. The vehicle they were traveling in collided with a lorry, leading to the devastating outcome.
Crash Details Emerge
The incident occurred around 11:27 AM along the Jalan Johor Bahru-Ayer Hitam route. Police report that a Perodua Bezza, en route to Skudai from Johor Bahru, reportedly lost control and veered into the path of an oncoming Mitsubishi Fuso lorry. The driver of the Perodua Bezza, a 48-year-old man, was tragically declared deceased at the scene due to severe head injuries.
Passenger Succumbs to Injuries
The 27-year-old male passenger, identified as a Singaporean national, passed away while receiving medical attention at Sultanah Aminah Hospital. Authorities confirmed the fatalities to Malaysian news outlets.
Investigation Underway
Assistant Commissioner **Balveer Singh**, North Johor Bahru district police chief, stated that the 28-year-old lorry driver sustained no injuries. The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, which addresses causing death through reckless and dangerous driving. Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been contacted for further information regarding the deceased passenger.
