Rep. Nancy Mace Used Vulgar Language, Berated Charleston Airport Police Over Missed ‌Escort, Incident Report‍ Details

CHARLESTON, S.C. -​ Representative Nancy mace berated Charleston International Airport police officers wiht profanity‍ and derogatory comments after becoming upset ​about a delayed escort to her gate, according to a police report obtained‌ by CNN. The incident occurred on February 2nd,and‌ details a series of escalating interactions stemming from a missed pre-arranged security escort.

Security video shows Mace arriving at‌ a sidewalk entrance at 6:50 a.m. in a ‍dark gray ​sedan,⁤ with no other individuals visible. Airport officials have declined further‌ comment.

Shortly before 7 a.m., officers were alerted⁢ that Mace was waiting ⁣at the Transportation Security Governance ‍known ⁤crewmember entrance. The report states officers ‌arrived “in less ​than a minute.” Upon meeting Mace,⁤ officers reported ⁣she was⁤ “very irate” and “began ⁣loudly cursing and making derogatory comments to us and⁢ about the department.”

According to one officer’s report, Mace repeatedly stated, “We were ‘fking incompetent,’ and ‘this is no way ‍to treat a fking US Representative.'” She also allegedly said, “She also said we would never treat (US⁣ Sen.) Tim‍ Scott like this.”

Further security footage ⁤shows Mace speaking with two airport officials at the known crewmember entrance.An airport⁣ employee made a phone call, and approximately three minutes⁣ later, the officers arrived to escort her. The entire process, from Mace’s arrival at the entrance and interaction with airport staff to the arrival of the ‍escorting officers, took roughly seven minutes, according to‍ the video.

The officer’s account indicates Mace ​continued to‌ use profanity while⁢ walking​ with the officers to‍ her gate, and also while speaking on her phone. Following her boarding, an airline employee and several TSA agents reportedly expressed shock and upset regarding Mace’s‍ behavior to the officers.
