Romania is on the cusp of a major esports milestone, inviting national teams to compete for the first time in a global virtual reality tournament. The Eva World Cup, set to unfold at the Gamescom Fair in Cologne from August 20-24, marks a significant opportunity for Romanian players.
Qualifying Tournament Details
Teams of four members have until July 19th at 11:00 PM to submit their registrations via a dedicated online form. The selection process culminates in a qualifying event hosted at EVA VR Bucharest, the country’s premier virtual reality esports arena, which opened its doors in June. This crucial tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22nd, commencing at 6:00 PM.
“If just a month ago I was talking about EVA plans to develop a professional esport league in VR in Romania, today we take the first concrete step in this direction. By organizing the qualifying tournament for Eva World Cup, we already raise the pole and offer to the Romanian players a real opportunity to represent Romania at the highest level, on the international stage, at Gamescom. It is a defining moment for the future of the esports in VR in Romania and everywhere,”
—Andrei Moisa, Coo Eva Romania
The triumphant squad earning the right to represent Romania will have their travel and accommodation expenses covered for the Gamescom championship. This initiative by EVA (Esports Virtual Arenas) aims to elevate virtual reality esports within the nation.
