Prabowo Achievement Video Removed from Solo cinemas Following Brief Screening
Solo, Indonesia – A video showcasing the achievements of President Prabowo Subianto has been withdrawn from screenings at XXI cinemas in Solo, Central Java, after a short period of being shown before films. The move follows questions raised about the appropriateness of using cinema screens for political messaging.
The video’s exhibition sparked debate regarding the use of public spaces for promotional material, especially in the lead-up to potential future elections. While State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated that such screenings are “common” as long as they don’t violate rules or disrupt viewers, the XXI cinema chain ultimately decided to halt the practice in Solo.
According to Tri Pramono, the XXI area Manager for Solo, the video was screened at cinemas including Neo Solo Grand Mall and Solo Paragon, but is “no longer being shown” and the material has been withdrawn. Pramono, who assumed his position in September 2025, stated he found the material was already removed upon arriving at Neo Solo Grand Mall in early September.
A Solo resident,Anton, reported seeing the Prabowo video before a film screening at XXI Neo SGM around early August 2025. Mall managers confirmed the video’s withdrawal, citing data from the XXI Area Manager.
The decision to remove the video comes after it was ”briefly screened,” according to a cinema employee. minister Prasetyo hadi defended the initial screenings, stating that utilizing public media to convey messages is not unusual.
