Prime Video and Paramount+ secure Long-Term UEFA Champions League Broadcast Rights
LONDON – Prime Video has extended its UEFA Champions League broadcast rights in key European markets through the 2030/31 season, while Paramount+ has acquired rights across select territories, marking a meaningful shift in the landscape of European football broadcasting. The deals, announced today, solidify the growing presence of streaming services in top-tier sports coverage.
The agreements build upon existing partnerships, with Prime Video continuing to air the top-pick Tuesday Champions League match in the UK from 2027 to 2031,and retaining top-pick matches across multiple markets. additionally, Prime video will hold exclusive rights to the top Tuesday game in the UK and co-exclusive rights in Ireland, and will exclusively broadcast the top Wednesday fixture in Germany and Italy.
This expanded commitment extends Prime Video’s involvement in the competition, following initial agreements launched in Germany and Italy in 2021 and in the UK and Ireland in 2024. The deals reflect a broader trend of UEFA distributing rights to a mix of traditional broadcasters and streaming platforms, increasing accessibility for fans while maximizing revenue.
Alex Green, MD of Prime Video Sport International, hailed the renewal as a “major milestone,” emphasizing the combination of marquee fixtures and Prime’s customer reach as key drivers of record viewership. He added that the long-term agreement allows Prime Video to continue developing new features for fans, such as the recently introduced Prime Vision.
