New York,NY – Chilean actor Pablo Macaya,58,known for roles in television series like “Blood Pact,” “Misconduct,” and “Single Again,” is currently prioritizing family life and domestic duties while residing in New York City with his wife, actress María José Contreras, and their two children.
Macaya, who has been living in the United States with his family for six years, has stepped back from consistent on-screen work, accepting only select projects such as 42 Days in the Dark and Baby Bandit. He has opted against pursuing an acting career in the American market.
“My life in New York is super quiet. I dedicate myself to being with my children, taking care of them, taking them to school. I am in charge of the house,” Macaya stated. “I try to do my best for not working and having free time, I am like Don Ramón… I came for a family change, life, and I am focused on my children and my house.”
Contreras currently works as a professor and leads theater classes at Columbia University.
Beyond family life, Macaya has ventured into digital content creation, launching the YouTube channel “THE CHANNEL CHUPALLA” two months ago alongside Hernán Lacalle and Paolo Conte. The channel focuses on exploring locations and documenting experiences within Chile.
“It’s like a SME, it’s like opening a kiosk where there are millions of kiosks. You find your look of things and for me it is key to be with my friends doing it,” Macaya explained.
While Macaya doesn’t rule out a future return to Chile, he intends to remain in New York until his children complete their basic education.
