NJ Teacher Resigns Over Controversial Charlie Kirk Comment

Rockaway Township, ⁣NJ – A Rockaway Township elementary school teacher resigned after a‍ firestorm of criticism erupted over a social media post celebrating the ​assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, then complained about being “doxxed” and fearing for her safety.

The ‌teacher, identified as [teacher’s name removed], sparked outrage when screenshots of ⁤her post surfaced online‌ mere hours after Kirk was fatally shot on September 10 while engaging with an audience at Utah Valley University.‍ The post drew immediate condemnation from​ residents, some of whom demanded her removal during a school board meeting on tuesday. This incident underscores the escalating tensions surrounding political discourse and the potential consequences of online rhetoric.

During the school⁢ board meeting, one resident stated, “Public assassination and celebrating it ‌is⁢ indeed detrimental to the children,” according to reporting by⁤ patch. The board subsequently announced that the teacher had resigned during a private session of the meeting. ​

In a​ subsequent interview with the Daily Record on Thursday, ‌the former teacher claimed she⁤ had been placed on administrative leave September 11 and lamented being “doxxed.” She stated, “I resigned because I feared for my​ safety, and me being present at the school would have caused safety ⁤concerns for the children.⁤ I did not feel Rockaway‌ could protect ‍me and keep me safe.”

kirk, a married father⁣ of two and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was killed by Tyler ⁤Robinson, who​ has been charged⁤ with ‌first-degree murder. Authorities⁣ are also investigating the potential involvement of Robinson’s boyfriend, Lance Twiggs.

The former teacher could ‍not be ⁤reached for further comment.
