Microsoft is rolling out a suite of fresh personalization features to Xbox consoles through its Insider Program, beginning March 18, 2026. The updates, currently available to select participants, aim to provide greater customization options for the Xbox home screen and system settings, with a wider release planned for the future.
A key component of the update focuses on the Xbox home screen, allowing users to create up to ten customizable groups, a significant increase from the previous limit of two. Microsoft has also streamlined the process of pinning and managing these groups, offering a more intuitive user experience. This change addresses a long-standing request from the Xbox community for improved organization of games and apps.
Beyond layout changes, the update introduces fully customizable color schemes for the Xbox interface. Previously restricted to pre-defined system colors, users can now select any color they prefer, impacting elements like the guide menu. The feature can be toggled on or off, allowing users to revert to the standard color scheme at any time.
The popular Quick Resume feature is also receiving an upgrade. Players will now have the ability to individually enable or disable Quick Resume for specific games. This addresses instances where Quick Resume may not function reliably, allowing users to force a full restart for problematic titles. The setting will be accessible within each game’s options menu.
Microsoft is also increasing the visibility of player profile badges. The guide will now display the five most recently unlocked badges for each game, providing a more immediate showcase of player achievements and milestones.
The company intends to leverage feedback gathered during the Insider Program testing phase to refine these features before their public release. While a specific release date has not been announced, Microsoft is actively soliciting input from participants to optimize the user experience. The Xbox Insider Hub app, available on Windows, is the primary platform for accessing these preview features and providing feedback, according to Microsoft support documentation. The program requires participants to be at least 18 years traditional.
Recent Xbox Insider Program updates have also included testing of AI-powered highlight reels on the ROG Xbox Ally X, and postgame recaps within the Xbox PC app, highlighting Microsoft’s continued investment in enhancing the gaming experience across its platforms. A public preview of a redesigned Cloud Gaming web experience has also been launched, gathering user feedback on a more console-like interface.
